We would like to welcome our latest and final arrival to our infant family Ms Mali Nyankori. Pronounced Molly,Mali is 4mnths old and has actually been with us since January-I've been a little slow lately, sorry.Like her friend Lucia,Mali has won our hearts and is a perfect addition to the Sylvan hills family.
We would like to welcome our latest arrivals. Our first is baby Lucia, the girl with the million dollar smile! At just 4 mnths. old she has already captured our hearts and is Dilla's new friend. Next we have 4 yr. old Dane and his 2 yr. old sister Ayden. Dane hit it off with Jackson and Colin right away. Together they established a kingdom which of course needed protecting from pirates and monsters! As Nathan is surrounded by girl power (doesn't seem to mind) Darby (my personal assistant) showed Ayden the ropes. Friendships have been established! Welcome Lucia,Dane,Ayden and families. We will stay in accordance with Atlanta city schools (not to be confused with Fulton county), if Atlanta schools are closed then we will also be closed.
Winter time can bring on special play time challenges. With everyone recovering from Christmas we have been taking it easy. Reading our favorite books, singing familiar songs and discovering new puzzles. It's important to exercise, snack healthy, and "keep the germs away". We've been learning about ice - it's frozen water you know! And while on the subject we decided to make Ice Castles. We filled our sand buckets to the top with water and left them outside to freeze. We also put different objects inside the water such as big leaves, rocks and sticks to see how they would look inside the ice. The guys were fascinated! We also play kick ball, basketball and soccer. Vita makes a good human goal.Fantasy play is always my favorite! Yesterday Jackson called Darth Vader to come and help capture the bad guys (played by Colin and Judah)!I'm not sure Judah knew he was a bad guy but it was fun running with big boy Colin. Darby and Finley cheered them on while Nathan watched and laughed from the safety of the tomato house. This is such a great group!
With the unusually frigid temperatures outside the BIG question is always to play outside or not to play outside! This is an old school vs. new school argument. Do we stay inside, stay warm with indoor "action activities" or go outside and catch "our death"! I say FRESH air rules. The plan as of now is to go outside in 30 min. intervals. Around 11:00 the sun is out bright in the play ground. Also again after nap time so we wake our bodies up properly with fresh air and exercise. I want to make sure that the children are getting at least an hour of outdoor time(preferably more) a day. In super freezing temps. we will do what I call the Winter Parade! We wrap up warm and sing and parade around the yard for at least 15 min. I think we will have happier , healthier children in the long run.
Happy New Year everyone! Ms Jenell and I want to thank everyone for all our wonderful goodies we recieved for Christmas. All of our senses were spoiled! Yummies for our taste buds, smelly goods for our noses and soft goodies for the touch! We felt spoiled. What a great group of Parents we are blessed with!
Ms. Jenell and I would like to extend a HUGE thank you to Leila H. Not only is she an incredible mother to Gabriel and Nathan but has some how found time to create this fabulous web site for us. Leila and Gerald have put in several hours over the past years to drag us into the 21st century of internet exploration(we would rather play than create web sites)! Leila has also provided us with many new toys, books, and crafts and is a vital member of our Sylvan hills family. We love you Leila.
Everyone has noticed our Christmas village. Not only is it beautiful and fun to look at but is also our count down to Christmas! Every day we open a new box. Each box is numbered and has a special addition to our village inside. This is a fun way to practice counting, learn about calendars, and most important-take turns! Good job everyone.
Yesterday we had a visit from the dental association. We learned the difference between a happy tooth and a sad tooth, healthy snacks and junkie snacks, and how many times a day we should brush our teeth. The represenative said that of all the groups she visits daily our children were the most responsive! Ms Jenell and I were so proud. Great job guys!
Thanks for visiting our new website and our blog! We'll keep you updated here so come and check us out once in a while.
